From June 2nd to 4th the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods (Assintecal), with the support of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex–Brasil) is going to participate at the Shoes and Leather fair in Guangzhou, China. Held in a region that accounts for 50 percent of China's footwear production, the fair promises to boost the trade exchange between the Brazilian leather–footwear industry and the Asian Market.

For the vice president of Assintecal's Foreign Market Dept., Mr. Evandro Kunst, the Chinese exhibition is an excellent opportunity to strengthen and increase the trade relations between Brazil and Asia. “The Shoes and Leather fair receives an average of 25 thousand visitors. It is an excellent opportunity to expand businesses with the Asian market and promote the design and the technology of the Brazilian products”, he points out. The Components Association is also going to participate at the event with an institutional space, where its representatives will be offering help and all kinds of support to the exhibiting companies.

In addition to the exhibition of the companies at the fair, Assintecal will be promoting a Special Mission in China with the components companies from the area of São João Batista (Santa Catarina state), which participate in the Estilo by Brasil consortium. During the mission, the companies are going to visit prospects, Chinese technology centers and institutes, in order to seek exchange of information between the Brazilian and the Asian market.

The participation of the components companies at the Shoes and Leather fair is strategic and strengthens the interaction between Brazil and the international market, thus enabling the creation of new business activities for the leather–footwear companies. The results of the last edition of the Shoes and Leather fair, held in May 2008, show that it generated business transactions that amounted to over US$ 160 thousand during the year.

For this year, the Brazilian trade association estimates that it will generate over US$ 3 million during the 12 months following the event. According to the vice president of Assintecal's Foreign Market Dept., Mr. Evandro Kunst, Assintecal has undertaken several actions to intensify and strengthen the relations between Brazil and China. Such actions have increased the projection of the business deals between the Brazilian components industries and the Chinese market.

“These actions extend the network of contacts, strategic information, and partnerships, which eventually facilitate integration and the bilateral trade”, points out Mr. Kunst.
