Air New Zealand Fashion Week - off to a good start!

Get out your diaries because the dates are set. We're pleased to confirm that Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2009 will begin on Monday September 21st and end on Saturday 26th September 2009.

Off to a good start
We've already received an overwhelmingly positive response from Designers in relation to their plans to show at ANZFW 09. Interest and requests from designers and event managers has kept the Fashion Week team busy discussing show options and finalising shed venues to accommodate the year ahead and were off to a good start with designers like Sable &Minx, Trelise Cooper and Sheryl May already vying for their spot!

Onsite Designer Showroom
After some successful designer “think-tank” sessions a number of new ideas and initiatives have arisen. The most exciting is a new concept, post show Onsite Designer Showroom where designers can take their ranges directly after their show for an up close session with key buyers and media. We hope this new showroom and format will make showing ranges easy to diary and convenient for our busy delegates. The dedicated showroom will work in addition to the established onsite designer exhibition and week-long showrooms which many designers and accessory labels already take advantage of.

Keeping it real
At the recent designer meetings held at The Westin Hotel, the issue of economic downturn was addressed and organisers suggested to designers they “throw away the rule book” and “get creative”, working smarter not harder. Pieter spoke to designers about maximising their sponsorship opportunities, keeping shows simple and effective, and cutting back on unnecessary trimmings.

Air New Zealand Fashion WEEKEND
This year Air New Zealand Fashion WEEKEND will take place on the evening of Friday 25th from 6pm until late and all day during Saturday 26th September. All of the most popular attractions are back including the Designer Selection Shows, the New Zealand Herald Designer Garage Sale, DJs, seminars, sampling and more. Fashion WEEKEND is designed to give attendees the chance to see the best of New Zealand's fashion industry on show at the end of a huge week of fashion.

Organiser Myken Stewart is already planning the big event, “The feedback we've had suggests that people want more of a fun networking afternoon and evening on the Friday where they can see the Fashion WEEKEND attractions and let their hair down for some socialising afterwards.” “Then we'll make even more of the Saturday which is by far the popular day for families and fashion lovers to have a fun day out at the Halsey Street venue,” she says.
