Tattoos & fashion merge with launch of 'Maiden of the Month'

Los Angeles-based Metal Ink launched the Maiden of the Month alt. beauty modeling contest on its website metalinkshop.com. Metal Ink, the world's 1st tattoo-inspired crowdsourcing graphic t-shirt company, created a monthly contest to foster positivity about body art subculture and alternative forms of beauty.

The Maiden of the Month contest provides a positive setting where female members of the Metal Ink community can embrace their sexuality in a fashion-forward way. Female members are invited to send in photographs wearing Metal Ink tees and underwear. Each contestant must upload 3 photos; one in which she must be wearing Metal Ink clothes, the 2nd a sexy upper body shot with full nudity, and the 3rd a sexy full body shot with partial nudity.

Qualified submissions are posted on the website for voting for a period of 30 days. Photos are rated on a scale of 1 to 10 by Metal Ink members who can also share comments. Members' scores and comments are used to help the Metal Ink crew make the final decision. The winning Maiden receives a cash prize of $700 and $300 in store credit. Winning Maidens also headline artsy, sexy fashion photo shoots with some nudity which will appear on the website. Select Maidens will use her signature tattoos to create a special line of tees with royalty. Metal Ink's first Maiden of the Month was Radeo, one of the most popular Suicide Girls, chosen by the staff (see photo). In June, the Maiden of the Month contest launches voting by members of Metal Ink.

Metal Ink is a cutting-edge line that recognizes the growing popularity of tattoo art subculture and alternative beauty. Metal Ink was born out of the desire to fuse body art and fashion and celebrate beyond the cover page beauties we see in popular magazines today. By putting the soup to nuts of t-shirt design and production in the hands of new and emerging talent, Metal Ink provides a creative, social platform for the tattoo community on the web.
