Sportlifestyle brand PUMA AG announced the exclusive design collaboration with Aki Narula, one of India's top fashion designers. Rajiv Mehta (MD, PUMA) addressed the media and welcomed Aki as a first Indian designer for PUMA. Aki Narula will design, create and develop a brand new ready-to-wear women's collection for PUMA.

“I am honored and humbled to be chosen to be a part of PUMA's unique and talented design fraternity. I feel that the collaboration for PUMA's Sport Fashion line is a revolutionary model for a partnership,” said Aki Narula. “Combining PUMA's infrastructure and technological platform we will be able to turn experimental ideas into reality for our Spring/Summer 2010. Women will now have access to premium fashion rather than only seeing them in shows and events.”

Aki Narula is joining PUMA's growing list of fashion design collaborations that already includes names such as Alexander McQueen, Yasuhiro Mihara and Sergio Rossi. PUMA's fusion of sport and fashion is one of the brand's strengths and has proven to be a success within the Indian market.

Aki's PUMA collection for Spring/Summer 2010 is a well-rounded, 360 degree concept consisting of women's footwear, apparel and accessories. The mid-to premium range priced collection targets all women looking to add a bit Aki Narula's funky designs to their wardrobe.

“Aki Narula is a proven visionary in the fashion and design industry. With this collaboration Aki will bring his design prowess and creativity to PUMA,” said Rajiv Mehta, Managing Director of PUMA India. “Collaborating with Aki will further expand PUMA's ability to move into a new space, expanding our reach to become the most desirable Sportlifestyle Company in the world.”

Introduced in 1996, the Aki Narula's label has been rapidly expanding. Renowned for his unorthodox use of colors and mixture of antagonist styles, Aki Narula's designs are always original and wild, combining a diverse range of textures. Always looking for new ideas and ways to redefine his creative touch, Aki Narula is sure to make an impression on the Spring/Summer 2010 fashion scene with his PUMA collaboration, which brings together PUMA's unique fashion sense with the designer's creative flair and versatility into what is expected to be a breeze of fun and freshness on the fashion ready-to-wear design scene.

Aki Narula is known for styling and designing several Bollywood blockbusters:

Bunty aur Babli, Bluff Master, Don, Tashan, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Dostana, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Joom Barabar Joom and the eagerly awaited Kambakht Ishq.

Aki's Bollywood roster includes superstars like Amitabh Bacchan, Abhishek Bacchan, Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, Kareena kapoor, Shahrukh Khan, Bipasha Basu, John Abraham, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherjee, Lara Dutta, Arjun Rampal, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor,Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor.

The media preview of the collection is scheduled for November 2009. This exclusive Spring/Summer collection will be available in key PUMA stores across India starting February 2010.
