Catch a Buzz Lounge – a true success at Fall II/Holiday LA Fashion Market

From June 12 – 16, 2009, The California Market Center (CMC) welcomed retailers from around the world to the Fall II/Holiday '09 Los Angeles Fashion Market. The Fashion Market featured thousands of brands in the CMC's permanent showrooms as well as hundreds of temporary exhibitors throughout the three featured tradeshows: FOCUS | Apparel & Accessories Show, TRANSIT | LA Shoe Show, and Brighte by ENK. On the opening day of the LA Fashion Market, retailers attended a seminar presented by the California Fashion Association (CFA) and Focal Technology Solutions at lunch-time and in the evening turned up for a Cocktail Reception and Fashion Show hosted by Fashion Business Inc. Additionally, retailers enjoyed complimentary salon services on Friday – Sunday of Market hosted by Oliver Ifergan Atelier.
This Fashion Market, FOCUS | Apparel and Accessories Show took place June 13-15, 2009 in the Penthouse on the 13th Floor, A-Wing and featured over 40 artist-driven, new and independent designers. Dustie Smith of Dusty Doll commented, “This was our first show and we are definitely coming back. We got a lot of exposure, did a lot of networking and the highlight was a great order from a large Japanese company.” Within FOCUS, BuzzFlikr PR returned to host the “Catch a Buzz” Lounge, Saturday – Monday, June 13 – 15, 2009 from 9:00am – 5:00pm. "Hosting our Catch a Buzz Lounge for the second time was a true success…our complimentary advice sessions on PR and Digital Media were a big hit with both exhibitors and CMC tenants,” said Siana Brennick of BuzzFlikr PR.
Across the bridge, TRANSIT | LA Shoe Show took place in the Penthouse on the 13th Floor, B-Wing, from June 14-15, 2009 and showcased over 100 footwear brands. Kareen Dong of footwear line Poetic Justice said, “There was steady traffic throughout the show, much more lively than a few shows ago. We're looking forward to being back for the larger show in October.” Art Abenoza of Report and Report Signature remarked, “We've been so busy we haven't even had time to tally all our orders yet, so, it's been a good show.”
On Friday, June 12, 2009 at 12:00pm, the CMC, CFA and Focal Technology presented a FREE seminar in the Annex space in the Main Lobby to the retailers. The seminar reviewed “How to Use Online Media to Create Additional Business for Your Store.” One of the key speakers, Shahin Kohan of Focal Technologies, said the seminar “was a great experience for AIMS and Focal Technology. We were able to answer questions, and bring information to buyers at the seminar.”
That evening Fashion Business Inc. presented a Fashion Show featuring the collection of upcoming designer and FBI member, Ximena Valero. Frances Harder of FBI commented, “Our first FBI event in our new home, highlighting one of our many talented FBI members was a resounding, smashing success! We are excited about showcasing more LA creative designers on a regular basis and are already planning for the next event!”
