cpd changes its face through clearly more modern focus

In a few weeks' time Düsseldorf will once again be at the focus of the international fashion business. Boasting a markedly more modern orientation cpd will be held at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre from 26 to 28 July. And it will present what women will be wearing next year: just under 1,000 exhibitors and collections featuring womenswear, ready-to-wear and accessories for the 2010 Spring/Summer season plus moda-pronta lines and NOS items.

Furthermore, cpd is ideally timed for German and European specialist retailers: because despite unsettled times retailers want and have to gain information but also place their orders for the coming season – and if at all possible, on one date and at one place. Because the city boasts everything within easy reach Düsseldorf offers European apparel dealers a concept that is perfectly suited to their needs and, hence, a genuine platform for business.

cpd in July is staged with new exhibition areas, new brands and a brand new pitch as the first mover for media exposure and PR promoting the fashion capital Düsseldorf, which is home to over 3,000 fashion labels. More and more top-notch fashion brands are expected to find their new home at cpd over the coming seasons. As part of a trading-up initiative the choice of exhibitors will be more selective and high-quality with the aim of giving cpd a new face in the medium term. The cpd held from 26 to 28 July must therefore be regarded as a kick-off event for a clear re-positioning.

New exhibition segments such as the areas “Impulse”, “Italian Suite” or “Decorate” will lay on a more up-market and extended line-up of fashion ranges thereby providing specialised retailers with a comprehensive array of information.

“cpd will be staged in summer with a markedly more modern orientation – in terms of looks and content. This way it will be rebuilt as an aspirational platform for our industry in future. I am firmly convinced of this after the many in-depth conversations I have had over the past weeks throughout Europe. The approach is right & we have taken pathbreaking, strategic decisions over the last weeks,” explains Mirjam Dietz,Executive Director Fashion, and adds “cpd in July will kick off exciting times for all parties involved. Many changes will already be visible and experienceable. New areas stand for new thinking!”

Commenting the move Philipp Kronen, CEO of Igedo Company, said: “With our approach we will cover specialist retailers' constantly rising demands for information. We will serve the industry as a reliable trend scout by presenting retail with many exciting and modern collections at cpd. We look forward to a successful cpd – one that admittedly will, in part, be influenced by the general economic climate but one that will also demonstrate unambiguously our plans for this trade fair in the forthcoming seasons. Since cpd in February we have developed many new ideas that will now be put into practice step by step.”
