Portland-based handbag brand Ellington has partnered with Dress for Success, an international nonprofit organization promoting women's economic independence, to give women's leather briefcases to more than 50 delegates attending the 2009 Professional Women's Group Success Summit.

The three-day conference, which took place in San Francisco, CA July 24-26, was attended by delegates from the Professional Women's Group, a program providing support for Dress for Success clients who have successfully gained employment. Delegates were chosen based on leadership capabilities and dedication to helping other clients achieve success. The theme of the conference was "I Am a Woman of Power," and the weekend's events included workshops focusing on topics such as money management, client relations, and special challenges facing women in business.

As a surprise gift to the delegates, Ellington donated an assortment of professional leather bags. "We make bags for smart, independent women, and Dress for Success helps women gain independence and self-confidence, so it's a perfect fit," said Ellington CEO Mike Edwards. "We wanted to show our support for these women who have overcome adversity and achieved success despite difficult circumstances."

The Ellington bags were given to delegates during the Success Summit's awards dinner, where Dress for Success affiliates and clients were recognized for exceptional work in their respective communities. The bags--an assortment of leather briefcases, totes and backpacks--were chosen both for their functionality and professional style. Said Marcy Vaughn Perkins, the delegate representing Dress for Success Memphis, "Sporting this quality bag uplifted my spirits and enhanced my personal and professional image."
