Anamika once again proves her fingers on pulse of fashion

Anamika Khanna's spring/summer 2010 collection at Lakme Fashion Week created a serene style symphony.

For relaxed summer days and even nights, Anamika Khanna's collection will probably bring out the gypsy in a woman as she lounges around in the most luxurious delicately crafted garments that will float around her.

Creating a beautiful collection for Spring/Summer 2010 at Lakme Fashion Week, Anamika once again proved that she has her fingers on the pulse of fashion that is truly elegant in form and feminine to the core.

Using a colour base of only white and black for the majority of the garments with just a hint of coral, fuchsia, aquamarine and fiery red; Anamika's silhouettes were layered gently for broad harem pants, sheer under skirts, simple ganjis, lean kurtas and angarkhas, jackets and a line of half saris which were teamed with pants.

With a predominantly cotton base with muslin leading the list, georgette, chiffon and lace were treated to cutwork, appliqués, smocking, drapes and encrusted with selective sequins and ornate zardozi motifs. Detailing was restricted to tiny slender tie-ups and knots which appeared at hemlines, sides or on closures and saris.

The show opened with a forest of hanging light bulbs that lit up the runway, as bundgala jackets over slip dresses, pin tucked backless dresses, cutwork shrugs, gold and silver appliquéd coat dresses and net angarkha kurtas glided down the ramp for the black and white segment.

The red on white embellished line of garments were restricted to draped chiffon dresses, oversized man's shirt, chiffon cape with smocking a silver wrap and long coat dress. Anamika reserved her dramatic touches for the end of the show as she sent out two magnificent silver and gold zardozi lehengas worn with black sari stoles. The end was a rainbow of ten crushed and knotted muslin saris teamed with pants in brilliant hues of blue, lime green, emerald, rust, fuchsia, red, orange, tomato, purple and off white. For a woman who wants to make a show stopping entrance anywhere, anytime, then it is Anamika Khanna who will be her first choice.
