FDDI to organize seminars at Li & Fung India

Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) Laboratory is organizing 3 days lab course in Physical Laboratory on testing on footwear technology, quality control of Indian Standards (IS:15298) & International Standards (ISO:20344) for safety footwear at Noida from 22nd to 24th October 2009.

Footwear Design & Development Institute(FDDI) organized seminars at Li & Fung India Pvt. Ltd., on 'All Leather Types and Quality' & 'Importance of Footwear & Component Testing, Quality Control'.
On 22nd September 2009, Mr. B. S. Katiyar, Deputy Director, FDDI & Mr. Navendu Shekhar, Faculty Member, FDDI gave presentation on 'All Leather Types and Quality'.
According to Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI, “From time to-time, FDDI organizes seminar on various topics/ issues to make the people & industry aware about the requirements and changes taking place in the industry.”
The sub-topic of this seminar was 'Different types of leather and finishes and their identification' in which the Quality region of leather, Different types of leather defects & Leather selection and storage was briefed.
The second seminar 'Importance of Footwear & Component Testing, Quality Control' was organized on 29th September 2009 in which Mr. Shailendra Saxena, Incharge - Physical Laboratory, FDDI & Mr. Aditya Prakash Sharma, Technologist gave presentation.
The sub- topics of this seminar were Tests on Complete Footwear, Tests on footwear components like Upper, Lining, Soling material and decorative, Importance of testing & quality control, Requirement of the specifications and Mode of failure & remedies etc.
According to Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI,“The seminars provided a forum to know about leather finish types, their characteristic, identification and preventive maintenance, leather product storage & on testing of footwear & footwear components.”
The seminars were organized at the premises of Li & Fung India Pvt. Ltd., located at Tower B, SP Infocity, 243, Udyog Vihar, Phase-I, Gurgaon.
The seminars proved to be an excellent opportunity for the participants to take maximum benefit from this innovative technology. On this occasion, the Vice President of the company Mrs. Oznur Mutlu was also present.
Mr. Deepak Kumar, IRS, Executive Director, FDDI said “FDDI, as an institute not only imparts training in the field of Fashion, Design, Retail & Management but, also provides excellent forum to the industry to know the technical advancement through its tailor-made seminars.”
Besides this, there was an interactive session after the presentations. The seminar was a great success as it attracted good participation from the company.
