 On November 3rd, 2009, Vancouver Fashion Week(VFW) will commence its 9th annual week-long venue. Attracting Canadian and international professionals, VFW will deliver yet another remarkable multicultural fashion experience. Widely recognized as a global platform for designers, VFW has become the West Coast’s most prestigious industry event, bringing together a 15,000(+) fashion-conscious audience in addition to influential media, buyers, and designers.

Emerging from a great F/W 09 season, VFW has proven itself as a high-profile avenue attracting stars such as Twilight’s Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, environmental activist David Suzuki, musicians such as the Barenaked Ladies, Sam Roberts, Alanis Morrisette, and Tricky, with The Hour’s George Stroumboulopoulos hosting the Rock vs. Fashion Juno after-party. In addition to celebrities, VFW attracts the likes of high society business owners, socialites, fusionists, members of the film industry, and international media at large.
While working on an international project during the 1999 Paris Fashion Week, Jamal Abdourahman, the producer of VFW, got the vision for the same venue in Vancouver. In April of 2001, Jamal produced the first-ever VFW, providing a stage for both local and international talent. For this upcoming season Jamal is convinced that his vision is becoming a reality; “it will be a truly international event, bringing designers, buyers, and media from signature fashion regions all over the world”.
This VFW is promised to be more global than any other event of its kind. Unlike previous years, this event will showcase more designers from around the world, setting a stage for design excellence. With the upcoming Olympics, VFW has been inspired to reach out and focus on worldwide design talent.
