Pearl Academy Organizes Fashion Show–INTERMEZZO 2009

To commemorate the 60 years of Indo-Swiss Friendship treaty,Pearl Academy of Fashion, India's leading fashion and design institute imparting quality education in fashion for more than a decade and Switzerland Embassy organized a fashion show — INTERMEZZO 2009—on the 24th of October, 2009 at Embassy of Switzerland, New Delhi.
The show displayed the ensembles of the Fashion Design students of Pearl Academy of Fashion around the theme for the evening 'Women's Evening Wear', where they were encouraged to reflect on the traditional and modern values of Switzerland and India. The designs ranged from individual expression of students on the beautiful landscapes of the country to flora/fauna to its cultural environment such as music, chocolate, among others. The realization of these designs incorporated technology and technically advanced fabrics used in the Indian industry as well as amalgamated sustainable practices of Indian crafts and techniques.
Prior to this, a preliminary show was organized on 27th April 2009 with his Excellency Mr. Philippe Welti (Swiss Ambassador) as the Chief Guest, Ms. Sarah Berry (Swiss official co-coordinator of India) was also present for the show. In the preliminary show 120 students of Fashion Design from third year showcased their designs and out of which 35 collections were selected for the 24th October show which was attended by distinguished luminaries from the fashion fraternity and the glitterati of the city as well as delegates from many embassies.
The Communication Design students of Pearl Academy of Fashion also participated in this evening and presented WEBGYOR 2009, concepts for the web. The projects provided information and educated the audiences about Switzerland, India and the synergies between both the countries.
“This is a unique way of applauding the creativity of our students. This is an apt platform for the students to showcase their talent and creativity and will provide them a right opportunity to display their creation,” commented Dr AKG Nair, Group Director Pearl Academy of Fashion.
PAF trains professionals with a comprehensive range of cognitive and intellectual skills, planned to develop across a wide range of learning experiences.
