On Friday, November 27, global sportlifestyle brand PUMA will debut a unique new retail concept with the opening of their second Chicago store, located in the highly-anticipated Chicago State Street development. For the first time in a U.S. based PUMA Store, the State Street location features product that spans the entire PUMA brand, including sport-performance, sportlifestyle, and sport-fashion. The PUMA Store State Street stocks everything from soccer cleats and performance running sneakers, to high-fashion collaboration projects with Alexander McQueen and Mihara Yasuhiro. This store will also house essential PUMA collections such as PUMA Archive and PUMA Denim.

“We felt that now was the right time to open a brand store that spoke to everything that PUMA stands for,” said Jay Piccola, President and General Manager of PUMA North America. “During these tough economic times, the brands that stay true to themselves are the ones that will survive. Now more than ever, it's important for PUMA to showcase the best of the brand to the world.”

Chicago is a city that has long embraced the PUMA brand. Coupled with the unique space offered by State Street as well as the location's capacity for attracting both local Chicago natives and tourists, the choice to debut the new PUMA Store here was a natural one. Jeff Dunn, PUMA North America's Vice President of Retail, explains, “We chose Chicago and State Street because of its location, the city culture, and the local community known for their love of shopping, sports, creativity, and innovation. We feel that this will be a great home for PUMA, and a place the local Chicago consumer will truly embrace.”

Located at the corner of North State and Randolph Streets, the two-floor, 8,000 square-foot space is dominated on two sides by towering windows that overlook Chicago's bustling downtown. Structurally, a glass elevator and an impressive central staircase provide focal points for the space. PUMA also utilized environmentally-conscious building materials whenever possible, including low-VOC paint, PVC-free fixtures, and drywall made from recyclable materials, along with a green energy-management system.

Just a few days after setting up shop, PUMA has plans for an opening event on Tuesday, December 1 from 4 pm to 8 pm, enlisting local celebrities, athletes, and other public figures to work the floor with our retail team. Their “wages” will be donated to the Chicago Red Stars Charitable Foundation. The evening's “employees” are set to include members of the Chicago Red Stars and current Second City performers. The usual celebratory fixings will also be on-hand, including sweets, prizes, and other goodies. The night concludes with Chicago favorites the Jump Smokers performing live from 7 pm to 8 pm.

The PUMA Store State Street marks PUMA's second retail location in Chicago, with a partner store on North Rush Street. PUMA also has a retail location in the Woodfield Shopping Center in Schaumberg, Illinois. State Street is home to a unique mix of residential, retail, and entertainment spaces.
