Costume designer Janie Bryant to work with Matchbook
November 30, 2009 (USA)

Matchbook Company appointed as licensing agency representing Janie Bryant, the award winning costume designer for Mad Men and Deadwood, in the development and merchandising of period inspired designer collaborations.

With her recognized ability to make an era come alive through fashion, Janie Bryant is looking to bring her magic from the TV screen to today’s consumers. Matchbook Company will seek guest designer licensed programs in men’s and women’s apparel, lingerie, swimwear, home, footwear and accessories that are developed to reflect Janie’s modern interpretation of 60’s style. This follows the recent launch of the Brooks Brothers’ Mad Men Edition suit designed by Bryant.

“I love fashion as it allows us each to express our creativity and I love capturing the essence of an era through costume design,” says Janie. “Now I am looking forward to bringing that retro style to current wardrobes.”

Janie Bryant, best known for being the costume designer of Mad Men and Deadwood, is an Emmy and Costume Designer's Guild award winner. Her work has inspired designers Michael Kors, Prada, and Peter Som, and and she has been featured in VOGUE, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, US Weekly, Variety, WWD, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times and on The TODAY Show, Oprah, Entertainment Tonight and Good Morning America.

Kristi McCormick, principal in Matchbook Company, and Linda Kearns, consultant and marketing director at Matchbook, will lead the Janie Bryant licensing program. “No one has the ability to interpret an era and bring that style to life like Janie Bryant,” says Kristi McCormick. “Her award winning costume designs for Mad Men and Deadwood speak for themselves. We are thrilled to be working with a person of her talent, creativity and flair for fashion. She has a ready audience waiting for her designs to hit the retail landscape.”

McCormick has represented and negotiated talent-based programs with retailers including Joseph Abboud, Bloomingdale’s, Barneys, Perry Ellis, and Uniqlo. Kearns, former Communications Director of INVISTA Apparel, crafted numerous creative marketing programs for LYCRA collaborating with celebrities, stylists and designers, including Jessica Simpson, Zac Posen, Philip Lim, Derek Lam, Stacy London, and Carson Kressley.

Matchbook Company was established in 2009 as a consulting company on talent buying and negotiations for major industry advertisers including John Frieda, Jergens, B&G Foods, Uniqlo, Bloomingdale’s, Joseph Abboud, Barneys, Matrix, and Avon.
