IAF International Designer Award Show

The International Apparel Federation (IAF) organized the 25th World Apparel Convention on November 19th and 20th in the Taj Palace, Delhi in cooperation with the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI).
One of the highlights of the event was the IAF International Designer Award held in the evening of November 19th. The International Designer Award 2009 is won by Didier van der Vorst from Belgium. He won the most prestigious award 'Most Creative Design'. There were two other prizes to win: 'Most Commercial Design' and 'Best way of working with Fabric'. The winners in these categories are respectively Anne Schulze (Germany) and Jasper Huang (Taiwan).
Didier van der Vorst will be invited to present her work at the 26th IAF World Apparel Convention to be held on 7-8 October 2010 in Hong Kong. The 2009 IAF International Designer Award Show opened with the presentation of the designs of the winners of 2008 competition: Catta Donkersloot (Netherlands), Frans Baviera (Spain) and Anuj Sharma (India).
The objective of the prestigious IAF International Designer Award is to provide a platform for promising young designers to show their work. By leveraging the reach of the IAF which has member associations in more than 40 countries, the ideas of young talent are presented to influential decision-makers in the apparel industry. All IAF member associations were invited to participate in this event, by nominating one designer from their country, who has been in the business for at least 3 years, to take part in the contest.
The collection is focused on ladies' wear for the period of Summer 2010 and the theme for the IAF International Designer Award 2009 is: Show your culture!
