NIFT Gandhinagar gets new facilities

Narendra Modi in his valedictory address conveyed the importance of NIFT in promoting Khadi and Indian crafts. While thanking NIFT for naming the auditorium 'Tani Riri', he reminded the audience about the two legendry sisters and their sacrifice. He recalled the participation of NIFT students at a fashion show some time back to promote Khadi at the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhiji's birthplace - Porbandar with his favorite bhajan 'Vaishnava jana to…….' as background musical score.
Lamenting at the state of Khadi - the symbol of the freedom struggle, Modi recalled the mantra of that time - 'Khadi for Nation'. He coined a new slogan for branding and promoting Khadi phrasing it – 'Khadi for Fashion'.
Reminding about the huge demand for Indian diamonds and jewelry in the international markets where India's exports stands at only 4 percent he informed that 'there is a Gujarati hand in polishing nine out of ten diamonds in the world.'
Lal Krishna Advani said, “NIFT Gandhinagar has emerged as a role model in fashion education and am happy to see it developing.”
Welcoming the dignitaries, Rajiv Takru, Director General of NIFT briefed about the new developments at NIFT. Mr. Takru said that the institute symbolizes commitment to the development of the textiles and apparel sector of India and would keep on showing its allegiance in terms of offering better human skills in making and enable the country to be a major player in the textile, apparel and fashion world.
The function ended with the vote of thanks proffered by Mr. Nitesh Vyas, the Director of NIFT, Gandhinagar.
