Media Make-up workshop held at Pearl Academy

Pearl Academy of Fashion, India's leading fashion and design institute organized a unique workshop for their module on Media Make-up at its New Delhi campus(January 20, 2010).

As part of this module, the students were exposed to Character & Special effects make-up. Mr. K. Mohan an expert from Film & Television Institute, Pune addressed the session and assessed the performance of the students. 25 students pursuing the Fashion & Media Make-up course participated in the final assessment and showcased their creativity.

Students were asked to create a character, fictional or real life, to demonstrate their knowledge and capability in working with special effects makeup skills. It offers them the opportunity to collate their knowledge of special effects makeup skills into a professional context, to introduce students to opportunities in film and theatre makeup, one of the subjects taught in the Fashion and Media Make-up programme is Character and Special Effects Makeup.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. AKG Nair, Group Director, Pearl Academy of Fashion said, “This is one of the unique one year diploma courses that we offer currently. Our prime endeavor is to give the learner an in-depth theoretical and working knowledge of all aspects of Make-Up Artistry within the Fashion, Film, Retail, and Media Industry and to equip the learner with the practical and professional skills required to work in the above industries. I hope the workshop will help the budding make-up artists tremendously to boost their confidence and prepare for the real world experience.”

The students of Fashion and Media Make-up, Pearl Academy of Fashion expressed their excitement and felt that they were given the opportunity to showcase their creation and were expecting critical feedback from the visitors of the project. They felt confident and inspired to take up similar projects in the future.

Pearl Academy of Fashion launched the Fashion and Media Make up programme in 2003 in technical collaboration with the London College of Fashion (LCF), the pioneers in beauty and fashion education worldwide. Exclusively designed to impart training on international trends and techniques, the programme offers intensive conceptual and practical study and training for those wishing to embark on careers as make-up artists in the fashion and media industry.

The programme is offered in 3 terms of 13 weeks each covering a range of specialist skills in make-up, hair styling and special effects for fashion, film, television, and theatre etc. It is proposed to add courses on Beauty and Hair dressing shortly. The multidisciplinary and broad based curriculum provides for an all-round development of students, in keeping with the make-up industry needs. Continuous evaluation and assessment is under-taken throughout the course through assignments, projects and presentations.
