FASHION EXPOSED opens 20th season

Buyers, retailers and industry guests were ready from the moment the doors opened on Valentine's Day for the first day of Australia's largest fashion trade event, FASHION EXPOSED.

Celebrating 20 seasons at the heart of the Australian fashion industry, FASHION EXPOSED, along with the co-located Bags & Accessories and Australian Shoe Fair, delighted visitors from across Australia and New Zealand with the latest trends and collections from over 600 companies.
Kicking off the day, finalists for the highly anticipated Debut competition presented their collections to a panel of industry judges for a chance to share in a prize-pool in excess of $20,000.
Debut, a long-running feature of Fashion Exposed, showcases up and coming designers and is supported by Fashion Exposed who provide free stands, free space, free runway shows and solid marketing support. Marie Kinsella, Director of Australian Exhibitions & Conferences commented “Each season it is very exciting to see new and emerging labels develop their profile in front of a large trade audience. Covering the cost of stands, stylists, curators and promotions is a huge expense but, being at the heart of the fashion industry, it is essential that Fashion Exposed gives back.”
New for 2010, the Avant Garde Gallery showcased a selection of costume and couture designs by students of fashion. Exceptionally well received by industry guests, Avant Garde provided the ideal opportunity to view the quirky and creative designs of the next generation.
On the main runway, models paraded down the catwalk in the latest lingerie, womenswear, streetwear and for the first time at FASHION EXPOSED visitors were presented with a new Plus Size's Salon Show. Menswear was also popular on the runway with labels such as Bamboo FX, C C A C Australia, Queen Clothing, and The Shirt Company.
This morning's launch of the 20th season of FASHION EXPOSED proved to be a celebration not only for organizers but also for the many hundreds of companies, individuals and associations who value being a part of this important industry event.
