•Developing UK and influencing international sustainable consumption and production policy, through demonstration projects in India (see next question).
•Influencing consumers through the Direct Gov environment website and more”.

Since London Fashion week is a high end fashion affair, targeting a very different audience, we asked him as to how much faith DEFRA holds on the fashion retailers, in terms of being a major contributor to the cause, to which he replied by saying, “The Sustainable Clothing Roadmap aims to improve environmental performance across the supply chain – it doesn't just target retailers.

“For example, Defra funded two demonstration projects in India, under the UK/India Sustainable Development Dialogues, showing the business case for sustainable clothing:

"Centre for Sustainable Fashion & Pearl Academy's Shared Talent India - using sustainable design and materials from Indian suppliers to create fashion forward garments recently showcased at London and India Fashion Weeks with a film to communicate and supplier database to enable greater uptake and Colour Connections showing the business case for Eco-Efficiency in Indian dye houses supplying to Marks and Spencer's, NEXT and Tesco.”
?
Moving on to conclude the interview, we asked him to delve on the usage of other key promotional mediums and platforms, which can bring a consolidated change. He observed by saying, “One of the five key areas of the Roadmap's Sustainable Clothing Action Plan is to raise awareness. Examples of actions undertaken by stakeholders in this area include:

•Levi Strauss & Co incorporating Fashion Futures into graduate training courses, where students propose and 'visualise' fashion products and services that would thrive sustainability in 2025.
•The Centre for Sustainable Fashion offering accredited sustainable fashion training courses and knowledge supports for business.
•Various organisations have committed to expanding networks, holding events exhibitions and promoting sustainable clothing topics”.
