L'Oréal, the world leader in cosmetics, has been recognised by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the “World's Most Ethical Companies” for 2010 , among a record number of nominations from thousands of companies in more than 100 countries and 36 industries.

L'Oréal's commitment to ethics and achievements have once again been recognised by the Ethisphere Institute, a think-tank dedicated to the creation, advancement and sharing of best practices in business ethics, human rights, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption and sustainability.

Based on in-depth research and a multi-step analysis, the companies selected for this ranking have demonstrated exemplary behaviour in ethical commitment and positive engagement with local communities. The rankings of the “World's Most Ethical Companies” 2010 will be published in Ethisphere Magazine's Q1 issue and is already available on Ethisphere's website.

“L'Oréal is honoured to be once again recognised as one of the 'World's Most Ethical Companies'. We are convinced that sustainable business success is built on high ethical standards which guide growth and on a genuine sense of responsibility to the community at large. This is what gives meaning and value to our business and is a wonderful recognition of our employees' commitment worldwide. This builds trust with our consumers.” said Emmanuel Lulin, Group Director of Ethics at L'Oréal.

L'Oréal believes that integrity and responsible corporate citizenship are critical to the Group's development, and as such, part of the day-to-day activity at all levels of the company.

L'Oréal's ethics programme is proactive and supports the Group's growth. In 2000, L'Oréal was one of the first companies in France to establish a Code of Business Ethics. While ethics is considered the responsibility of all employees, the Group appointed a Director of Ethics in 2007 to reinforce the promotion and integration of ethical practices among the businesses. In 2008, L'Oréal CEO Jean-Paul Agon received the prestigious Stanley C. Pace Leadership in Ethics Award.
