Caroline Amrikhas to lead design at Anchor Blue

Anchor Blue, the Corona, California-based clothing retailer with 112 stores in the western United States, is proud to announce Caroline Amrikhas has joined the brand as Design Director and Product Manager. As the head of design and product, Caroline will report directly to Anchor Blue Executive VP, Chris Finazzo. She'll lead the product and design teams out of the company's Corona headquarters.

“We'll be driving the identity of the brand from the design side and building the right vendor matrix for production. This will enable Anchor Blue to bring the best product to the floor,” says Caroline. “Our vision is to bring creativity and a crafted authenticity to the product making Anchor Blue a denim destination for the juniors and men's consumer.”

Most recently as a Design Director for iconic denim brand, Levi's, Caroline's focus was the women's, juniors and kids business. Levi's relied on her to help revolutionize the women's business. At Anchor Blue, she'll be charged with evolving the men's and juniors business.

“Anchor Blue is excited to welcome Caroline to our team. Her experience in denim and juniors apparel will lift our brand to the next level,” explains Finazzo. “Customers will see a difference in detail, design and focus when her first collection hits stores in spring 2011.”

Prior to Levi's, Caroline designed juniors and missy, with a denim focus for some of the world's largest retailers including Walmart. Her design career started in contemporary manufacturing in LA before moving onto the business side as a buyer for Macy's. Caroline credits her years as a buyer for an understanding of product evolution from conception to sell-through and the importance of product in driving sales on the floor. This knowledge base will be especially relevant in her new role at Anchor Blue.

Anchor Blue is currently building a team of designers that will help to establish the brand's direction going forward. “What makes denim so unique is the story it conveys from the maker to the wearer. There's no other cloth like it and that's where the passion lies,” says Caroline. “I'm hoping to create an environment that promotes designers creativity. We'll be putting our own ideas into iconic pieces, creating a lifestyle that is individualistic."
