Millions of dollars of diamonds are on display at The Bride Show Dubai this week and one lucky bride-to-be could even go home with a 50 carat fancy intense yellow radiant diamond engagement ring, so long as her fiancé has $2million (AED7.34million) to hand.

South African Jewels is taking part in the largest bridal exhibition in the Middle East for the second time to sell some of the world's most exquisite diamonds to Dubai's elite at wholesale price, some 50 per cent less than retail prices. The company's decision to sell at wholesale was made because Dubai customers still typically pay in cash and upfront.

Following on from their participation in The Bride Show Abu Dhabi in February, where they displayed a $1million (AED3.67million) 25 carat yellow diamond engagement ring, South African Jewels has brought a number of pieces guaranteed to drop jaws and pop eyes. Upon request, the company will bring the 50 carat engagement ring, worth a staggering $2million (AED7.34million), which has a prestigious Gemological Institute of America certificate, from South Africa to Dubai for a personal viewing.

At The Bride Show Dubai visitors are being drawn to a diamond necklace carrying 60 carats of diamonds, which retails for $390,000 (AED1.43million) but is being sold at the show for $195,000 (AED716,225) and a 9.5 carat white diamond engagement ring which would set men preparing to pop the question back $400,000 (AED1.46million) from any retailer but which is available for sale until Saturday 10 April for $200,000 (AED734,589).

“We do not solely cater for the most expensive tastes; our diamonds range from $20 (AED73) to $500million (AED1.84bn) with any kind of certification,” said Gary Shuster, owner of South African Jewels.

“We buy our diamonds from De Beers, the largest mining company in the world and cut, polish and set the stones in South Africa. The designs are classical and timeless and especially popular in this region.”

South Africa Jewels, a family business in operation for more than 70 years, will launch its showroom in Dubai, located in the Al Mas Tower in Jumeirah Lake Towers, in September 2010. Until the showroom is established, customers can visit www.southafricanjewels.com to arrange personal viewings.

The company is one of more than 300 exhibitors taking part in The Bride Show Dubai and sits alongside a number of local and international jewellers.

The Bride Show Dubai and Women's World Live run until Saturday 10 April, open from 2:30pm until 10:30pm. Children under 12 are not permitted. Entry is 10dhs per person or free if you come in gym gear to take part in Women's World Live fitness classes.
