CPD Signatures shows trends for Fall/Winter 2011/12

Post-traumatic times, economic and financial crises transport people into a state of sentimental nostalgia time and again. The belief that “things were better in the past” is characteristic of a time where people withdraw to and recall retro values and traditions.

CPD SIGNATURES will be held for the first time from 6 to 8 February 2011 in Fashion Halls 13/14 of Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre.

“Conserve“ is therefore the buzzword and most designers confine themselves to refining past trends and tendencies for the 2011/12 Fall/Winter season. It's not so much about re-inventing or revolutionizing fashion but more about cultivating and modifying already familiar things. Fashion has, unlike the principles that science and technology follow, decelerated and follows consumers' needs and wishes now. The future lies in standstill. Since new is everything – and nothing.

The principal themes for the 2011/12 Fall/Winter season:

NEW “ESTABLISHED” ELEGANCE
Feminine silhouettes are in demand but they may also be “edgy”. After the extreme emphasis on sculptured shoulders hips are now moving centrestage with razor-sharp cuts. Toned down with feminine details and a touch of 50s sex-appeal traditions are instilled with a new spirit. Fits emphasise female contours, accentuate waistlines; elegant materials such as silk, fine-feed knits and a touch of transparency determine the picture. In tune with winter dark colours like black and grey-blue, golden green hues and muddy mauve are dominant.

CPD SIGNATURES PRESENTS:

NÖR
NÖR follows trends rather than fashions. Styling is relaxed, wearable and avantgarde at the same time and what is special – timelessly chic for young individualists. The collection is made up of many items, which can be coordinated with each other but also work as separates and captures us with unambiguous shapes and clear colours that perfectly match the attitude towards life shared by young urban women.

Michal Szulc
Future in Fashion – Michal Szulc is one of the biggest shooting stars on the young, vibrant Polish fashion scene. His collections captivate us with timelessness, purism, a sharp profile and a touch of provocation. His source of inspiration: linear shapes and the realm of graphic art.

GROßER HEINRICH
The “Großer Heinrich” fashion label is described by its two designers Astrid Großer and Gerti Heinrich as a “perception diagnostic experiment”. Their fashion presents original styles inspired by prints that give these garments interesting and innovative silhouettes: for instance, an outfit that resembles a butterfly was the result of a mirrored print. The choice of materials is characterised by dynamic correlations; an interplay of different surfaces and textures with a smooth, coarse, woven or knitted touch to them. This results in a collection picture that is not clean and purist but complex, organic and oozing with colour, fit and fabric combinations.
