Gudrun Sjödén Design unveils autumn-2013 collection

Swedish brand Gudrun Sjödén Design has just come up with its latest autumn-2013 collection, made from recycled fibres.

Replete with strong organic overtones, the line titled Islands is inspired from the natural beauty of the coastal areas of Roslagen, Archipelago of the Azores and Fårö.

Based on warm autumnal shades of orange, olive and salvia, the Roslagen range is decorated with Gillöga leaf patterns. The line’s pieces include organic cotton and modal made dress, tunic and trousers, knitted cardigans, embroidered cotton coat with stand-up collars and a floral print blouse.

The flora and dramatic landscapes of the nine island archipelago is the theme behind the Azores collection, replete with check woven pieces, geometrically-cut corduroys, a straight-cut blouse and a raincoat with designer Gudrun’s signature Bumling pattern.

Made from organic cotton, marled wool and nature-friendly recycled hemp fibre, the Fårö range is available in an earthy palette of dusky grey, dusky lilac and ash grey tones. The ensembles include romantic floral dresses, quilted cardigans and thick parkas.

Speaking about the collection, the Stockholm-based label’s founder, designer and creative director Gudrun Sjödén said, “Islands have always had an influence on my life, especially our own little island in the Stockholm Archipelago, but also the Baltic island of Fårö and the Azores in the Atlantic, where we finally photographed our Autumn Collection.”

“The result is a wonderful mix of rich autumn shades in our “Roslagen” programme, the beautifully trailing “Kalla” pattern from our “Azores” collection, and the slightly more restrained “Fårö” programme containing grey marled wool and gently floral romantic dresses,” he adds.
