Ternua & Baltistan Foundation make hats for winter

Ternua, in a collaboration with the Baltistan Foundation, has launched two models of hats in its next winter collection, which will be made by women in the Hushe Valley in Pakistan. Ternua designs and produces outdoor technical clothing. It markets its garments internationally, and is present in more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

The Baltistán Foundation was created in 2001 by mountaineer and friend of the brand, Alberto Iñurrategi, in the Hushe Valley, in honour of his brother Félix. Thanks to this initiative, the brand will help local women create a co-operative called Ringchan, where they will produce wool hats that Ternua will sell in its different markets, and in this way, the cooperative will have its own income and will promote female empowerment in the valley, according to a media statement by Ternua.

Personal and professional training are the pillars of the Baltistán foundation, and are the key to the socio-economic development of the population. For ten years, women have been trained in sewing courses where they learn about human rights and self-esteem in addition to techniques. Ternua encourages retailers to find a place for the accessories produced by the Ringchan co-operative in their Autumn/Winter 2021-2022 orders, because this initiative warms people in a way that is sustainable in every way, including both the people who wear the accessory next winter to protect themselves from the cold and the women in the Hushe Valley, because it brings them progress, empowerment, and social value, Ternua said in a press release.

Ternua belongs to the European Outdoor group, which includes the most important outdoor and mountaineering brands in the world, who collaborate constructively and positively in promoting the common interests of the European outdoor sector.
