The English design veteran Dame Vivienne Westwood came out in support of Scotland’s break away from the United Kingdom through her latest catwalk range, paraded on the third day of London Fashion Week (LFW).

The Derbyshire-born designer endorsed the Yes vote campaign through her Red Label’s new Spring/Summer 2015 collection. Teamed up with the blue and white Yes badges, the line included big shouldered jackets, jacquard pattern sweater dresses, polka dotted tops and an immaculately draped flowing orange coloured evening gown.

Sir Paul Smith showcased a menswear-inspired collection with a relaxed effortless vibe for women. The line included oversize masculine shirts with unbuttoned cuffs, cotton shifts with detailing on sleeves, high-waist slacks, softly tailored jackets, cigarette pants, striped drop waist skirts with boxy pleats, sheer silk dinner shirts, fringed sleeveless linen pieces, floral satin evening frocks, red-striped satin taupe bombers and ruched cotton blazers.

The English leather goods expert Mulberry drew inspiration from the flowers of traditional English gardens for its new catwalk range. Printed and embroidered with motifs of trellis, cornflower, delphinium and cow parsley, the presentation included a 1960s inspired lilac hued silk jacquard A-line dress, a sculpted black leather frock, and some retro style silk tea dresses and oversized parkas adorned with white cotton damask fabric panels.

Designer Alice Temperley experimented with looks crafted from jacquard, silk, chiffon, knits and linen fabrics for her namesake label Temperley London’s LFW show. Replete with stripes, monochrome checks and marine prints, the line included an array of day and evening wear separates. The standouts were rolled-up trousers, loose fit shirt dresses, kimonos and cropped trench coats in pastel shades of blue and pink. (PB)
