Katie Eary showcased her latest Autumn/Winter collection, made using wool from Yorkshire-based cloth manufacturer Hainsworth, at the recently wrapped up instalment of London Fashion Week.

Inspired by the works of American artists Jeff Koons and Brian Donnelly, the range was enhanced with gigantic prints of body organs like brain, ribcage and teeth.

Based on a palette of navy, sexy orange, teal and aubergine, the pieces were neoprene sweaters and hoodies, T-shirts and shirts, macs and parkas, mohair or lambswool knits, and hats and scarves.

Talking about the collection and her cloth supplier, the Royal College of Art graduate said in a media release, “I selected Hainsworth fabrics with a balance of high shine and rigidness. I wanted to sculpt high shining parkas and macs with this shine to emulate Jeff Koons art works.”

“My favourite fabric to work with was the French navy broadcloth. It was absolutely amazing as I could literally sculpt and mould any shape and it had an absolutely gorgeous sheen to it. I also used black and purple doeskin - fabrics which had the most gorgeous pile and high shine. I design in colour and it was inspiring to visit the mill and see the vibrancy of the fabrics. The processes blew my mind,” she mentioned while commenting on her visit to the company.

Sharing his experiences on working with the designer, Hainsworth MD Tom Hainsworth said, “It has been delightful to work with Katie. We love the way she has combined fashion and art with our Doeskin and Broadcloth fabrics to create such a striking collection.” (PB)
