Zalando opening Zalando shop in Ireland, Czech Republic

Pursuing its growth strategy, Zalando is opening the Zalando shop in Ireland and the Czech Republic in summer 2018. With this, Zalando gains presence in 17 European countries. Europe’s leading online platform for fashion and lifestyle will also broaden access to its offering by launching additional language versions of Zalando in Germany and Switzerland.

H&M group brand Monki, which will be available to Zalando customers starting in August, is a key addition to Zalando’s assortment.

Ireland and the Czech Republic are the first two countries Zalando will enter since 2013. With the two new markets, Zalando will expand its local reach and open its offering to an additional 15.4 million citizens. Customers will have access to Zalando’s strong proposition of a wide assortment, and free delivery and returns. Ireland and the Czech Republic are adjacent to current Zalando markets and will be served by Zalando’s existing logistics sites.

“We are excited to bring Zalando to new customers, and we believe our unlimited assortment, personalised shopping experience, and substantial convenience offering will resonate well with Irish and Czech customers. We are tackling our expansion smartly, leveraging knowledge from our existing European markets. And we’re operating in usual Zalando style: launch, learn, iterate, and scale,” co-CEO Rubin Ritter said.

Beyond expanding into two new countries, Zalando will further localise its proposition in Germany and Switzerland by offering additional language versions of its online shops. From mid-summer 2018 onwards, customers in Germany will have access to an English language version of the German shop, and customers in Switzerland will benefit from an Italian language version of the Swiss shop. By extending language options, Zalando will enhance the shopping experience of customers in both countries.

Zalando constantly expands its assortment to offer customers an unlimited choice of fashion and lifestyle products. From August on, Swedish fashion brand Monki will be available on its platform in all European markets. Monki, founded in 2006, is known for its on-trend fashion inspired by a mix of Scandinavian cool and Asian street style, as well as for consistently working to empower young women through diverse castings, communication and design. Monki is the third H&M group brand available on Zalando, alongside Weekday and Cheap Monday. (SV)
