Excessive clearances and compliances; shortage of trained manpower; technology transfer and adoption of best practices; higher infrastructure costs for procurement or operations; and the overall slowdown of the global and Indian economy are some of the challenges for vendors in the lifestyle and fashion sector, according to consultant Vikas Bagga.

For Indian distributors, slowdown’s impact in the retail fraternity, who in turn depend upon end customers for retail sales; lower off-take and liquidity crunch post demonetisation; regressive turn of prevalent pre-booking mode; heightened overheads and operating costs coupled with extended credit period to retailers; and perennial discounts on e-commerce channels are some of the key challenges, Bagga told Fibre2Fashion in an interview.

Bagga has close to 30 years of experience in powering success stories in leadership roles for lifestyle and fashion brands.
