The US-China trade war has opened up an opportunity, which will help India’s stagnant exports of man-made fibre-based textiles (MMF) grow by 5 to 7 per cent in one-and-half years, Ronak Rughani, chairman of Mumbai-based Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC), said while inaugurating the 4th edition of ‘Source India 2019’ in Mumbai yesterday.

Textiles minister Smriti Irani said the time has come to project India as a reliable source of quality MMF textile products, according to Indian media reports.

The show attracted more than 100 leading Indian textile companies, which are displaying their latest range of textile items, including fabrics, yarn, made-ups, fibre, home textiles and technical textiles. Around 180 buyers from 40 countries and 20 international buying houses are visiting the three-day show.

Participating countries include Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Mexico, the United States, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Romania, Australia, Denmark, Russia and Sri Lanka. (DS)
