Washim Mia, Staff Reporter (RMG Times)  A day-long session on ‘Grievance Mechanism and Disciplinary Practice’ held at the Conference Hall of Royal Cuisine Restaurant yesterday, 13th July 2018. It was organized by Bangladesh HR, Admin and Compliance Professionals Society (BHACPS), an organization of HR, Admin and Compliance Professionals of the RMG industry of Bangladesh.

The main objective of the session was how companies can establish an effective grievance system in their facilities and take necessary actions against the received ones according to national and international references.

Around 70 delegates coming mostly from different RMG factories participated in that important session. Submitting grievances (If any) being an important way for seeking justice for the workers, the session got an exceptional weight to all the participants.

The session was divided into two parts- ‘Grievance Mechanism’ and ‘Disciplinary Practice’.

‘Grievance Mechanism’ was conducted by the vastly experienced international trainer Mr. Abdul Alim, President and CEO- Sustainable Management System Inc. while ‘Disciplinary Practice’ was conducted by another popular trainer of the country Mr. Shaheduzzaman Robin, CEO- Sustainable Business Solution Limited.

They both made it visible how a grievance from a worker or other stakeholder should be dealt with a complete mechanism system in a most effective way.

‘Grievance is a statement in which someone states about his/her dissatisfaction with something. It may be internal and external; expressed and hidden. Hidden grievances are too dangerous to resolve while expressed grievances are much more easier.’ Mr. Alim was saying during the session.

‘There should be a favorable system for the workers to communicate with the management regarding these issues’ he added.

Later on Mr. Robin elaborately discussed what type of disciplinary action can be taken against any grievance based on the light of national and international laws and regulations.

Mr. Moin Hossain, President- Bangladesh HR, Admin and Compliance Professionals Society (BHACPS) expressed his gratitude to both the trainers and the participants for making the session so lively and interactive.

At the end, attendance certificates were distributed to all the participants.
