Eddie Bauer launches kid's outerwear collection

Specialty retailer Eddie Bauer, the Original Outdoor Outfitter, announces the launch of a kid's outerwear collection starting, for Fall 2011. It's the first time since 2002 that Eddie Bauer has carried kid's outerwear.

The collection, which launches on Eddiebauer's website is comprised of Eddie Bauer's most iconic styles, including the popular Downlight Collection and Superior Parka. The kid's line also includes the historic 1936 Skyliner Model Jacket, the first quilted down jacket ever patented in America; a design that changed the Eddie Bauer brand and helped create an entire industry of outdoor apparel.

"With a 92 year history in outerwear we know a little about keeping kids warm and dry in the outdoors. Getting kids of all ages and their families outdoors is an important part of our mission," stated Kristen Elliott, Director of Marketing Programs for Eddie Bauer. "We chose styles that are iconic to our brand and we made them kid-friendly and fun!"

Eddie Bauer Kids includes a comprehensive winter product offering for both girls and boys, complete with mid-layer insulation and fleece, a 3-in-1 snow jacket and pant, and a heavy-duty down parka. Sizes for the kid's styles will run from 12M to XL, and sizes for the baby bunting will range from 0 to 12 months.

Garment design and fabrics will remain the same as the adult pieces, but these smaller versions have been made more kid-safe by altering zipper pulls, bungees, shrinking pocket sizes and adding fabric to increase durability where kids playing in the outdoors really need it. All of the kid's garments also meet the necessary safety requirements set out by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

"Our kid's garments are designed to last," stated Damien Huang, Senior Vice President of Outerwear, Active Wear, and Gear. "The adult versions of these pieces have been tested by our guide team, so we know they perform, but a trip up Everest is nothing compared to the everyday wear and tear put on kid's apparel. We added kid-friendly details and extra durability to ensure that these pieces will be passed down before they wear out."

The Fall Eddie Bauer Kid's Collection is available on website. The kid's offerings will also continue into the future with a spring and summer 2012 product lineup launching January 23rd, 2011.
