Sunderland and Glenmuir, two of Europe's leading golf apparel brands, have launched high-performance compression base layers for the first time in their Autumn 2011 collections.

Sunderland introduces the revolutionary ThermoCool Eco yarn in its new Endurance base layer while Glenmuir is using the renowned Hi-Cool moisture management system in its Baffin and Greta base layers.

With a superior seamless technology construction, mesh panels for breathability and rib panels for a contoured fit, the Endurance is an outstanding compression base layer which underlines Sunderland's long pedigree of producing exceptional weatherwear designed specifically for golfers.

ThemoCool Eco is a unique blend of fibres designed to optimise the body's natural thermoregulation properties. When active the fabric keeps you cool and dry while during periods of low activity or in cooler conditions, its thermobuffering function is activated – preventing post-exercise chill.

Throughout the Sunderland Endurance base layer, superior knitting and construction techniques help to regulate body temperature and compress core muscles, which raises performance levels and helps the body to recover after exercise.

The Glenmuir Baffin for men and Greta for women features the renowned Hi-Cool moisture management system, with mock neck and a figure-hugging high-performance fabric.

The garments enhance circulation and stamina, while the easy-care Hi-Cool fabric allows the skin to breathe and lets water vapour escape, leaving the golfer's body temperature properly regulated.

Introducing the base layers, Glenmuir and Sunderland marketing director, Brian Mair, said: “Performance base layers benefit everyone, from superfit Tour golfers to the casual player and many golfers will enjoy wearing them.

“It's well documented that reducing the build up of lactic acid during and following exertion speeds up the body's recovery rate and the risk of injury is greatly reduced.

“By compressing the muscle groups during a round, golfers are helping to protect themselves from potential muscle damage and thereby have a much greater chance to play well and keep a good round going.”

Glenmuir is a brand right at the heart of golf. Preferred Supplier to The European Ryder Cup Team for 23 years, Glenmuir enjoys partnerships with the PGAs of Europe, The PGA, The European Tour, The Open Championship, The English Golf Union, VisitScotland, EventScotland, The Walker Cup and Vivendi Seve Trophy.

Sunderland was founded in 1911 as a clothing company and began making golf apparel in 1932. Selected over the years for Ryder Cup, Curtis Cup and Solheim Cup teams, Sunderland epitomises quality and playability, ensuring end users of lasting wear and reliability.
