Lee Cooper plans expansion in Romanian market

Lee Cooper, the British jeans manufacturing brand, is once again targeting the Romanian market. It has opened eight new outlets during this year by now, and proposes to launch 10 more next year.

The company plans to take the total number of outlets to 30 by end of 2013, the same number of stores that existed in Romania till 2008, before the onset of global financial crisis.

The outlets were then operated by LCR Jeans, which possessed license for operating domestic Lee Cooper stores. These stores were shut following LCR's filing for insolvency about two years back.

Lee Cooper has now inked a fresh partnership deal with the shareholders of Kenvelo to tap the Romanian market. Presently, Kenvelo operates 52 outlets in Romania.

Some of the new eight outlets launched by Lee Cooper have been started in the premises that were previously occupied by LCR Jeans. While five new of these new outlets are opened in Bucharest, two are launched in Constanta and one in Oradea.

The firm proposes to launch its ninth outlet in Craiova by end of the year and gradually intends to mark its presence in all leading shopping centres, beginning with larger cities and then moving to smaller cities.
