Supermarket chain George at Asda has appointed GVA's UK regional office as its agent and cost consultant for its mega garment project being constructed in Wynyard.
The project is to create a garment production facility, which would also serve as a distribution warehouse for George at Asda.
GVA will manage the multi-million pound project that is coming up on an area of 343,000 sq ft, work for which began last November.
George had announced in December 2011 that the new garment production facility at Wynyard would create employment opportunity for around 500 people.
Upon completion of project in September this year, Leeds-based Clipper Logistics Group will take the warehouse on a new 16 year lease. It will oversee day-to-day functioning and will also distribute clothing for George at Asda.
Clipper is providing huge investment for building the state-of-the-art garment manufacturing hub, which includes a 450,000 sq ft of area on mezzanine floor inside the main building premises.
