The world's leading apparel fit expert, Alvanon, has signed Hong Kong based “super trendy” kidswear brand, A for Apple, to its two-year global mentoring program, an initiative designed to give exceptional young design talent free access to world class fit consultancy and tools.

Alvanon's global mentoring program, valued at $40,000 USD per annum, will give A for Apple up to five hours a month consultancy on a range of crucial fashion fit issues including target consumer shape analysis, sizing and pattern grading.

In addition it will provide a complimentary AlvaForm technical fit mannequin, significant discounts on additional mannequins and AlvaBlock pattern making tools.

Alvanon will use its expertise in child morphology, based on 3D body scans of “real” children, to help A for Apple execute an accurate and more consistent standard of fit across its kidswear designs.

A for Apple has already trialled four AlvaForms to fit and size its latest Autumn/Winter 2013 “Outward Bound” kidswear collection launched at the ENK children's club exhibition, New York on Sunday 11th to Tuesday 13th March 2012.

Alvanon launched its global mentoring initiative last year in recognition of its 10th anniversary and A for Apple is the second young label to be signed to the program. The first signing was Saloni Lodha, the London-based Indian ladieswear designer, who has gone on to launch international collections to critical acclaim.

Commenting on the mentoring program, Denise Ho, co-founder and creative director, A for Apple, said: “To us, fit integrity is every bit as important as other design and business considerations, so we are delighted and honored to be working with Alvanon on our fit strategy and practices.” Jeffrey Chau, co-founder and business director added: “Alvanon's expert knowledge of children's shapes has helped us define and target our core customers."

"There are huge differences in shape between the age groups and we have already expanded our size range in response to Alvanon's advice. The AlvaForms are incredibly accurate and we hope they will eliminate fit issues.”

Ed Gribbin, president, Alvanon Inc. went on: “With prestigious retailers such as Barney's and Lane Crawford already stocking A for Apple we know it is a young exciting brand to watch. It has a clear design identity and wants to ensure this translates into successful, commercial product. We are excited at the prospect of helping this ambitious brand secure success.”

Janice Wang, co-founder and CEO of the Alvanon Group concluded: “The global mentoring program is very important to me as it allows our company to put something of real value back into the industry. Investing in young talent is crucial and I am actively supporting the designers we have chosen to mentor."

"Not only are we supplying valuable fit consultancy and tools but we are also providing a sounding board for their wider business development.”
