Indian brand Classic Polo plans stores in tier II towns

Classic Polo, the casual menswear brand of India-based Royal Classic Group (RCG), will open more outlets in Tier II and Tier III cities across India.

Ms. Usha Periasamy, VP Operations and Brand Head, RCG (Classic Polo), told fibre2fashion, “We plan expansion in Tier II and III cities as there are huge growth opportunities in these cities. In the first phase, we will open outlets in southern Indian cities. Towns in eastern India will be our next target.”

Explaining about the target customers and growth potential, she says, “Our target customers are those in the age group of 18-35 years. There is good growth potential for a casual wear brand like us due to a number of reasons.”

“Firstly, there are very few national players and mid-price segment is almost vacant. So, mid-price segment has a huge scope to grow and sustain. Secondly, 65 percent of India's population is below 30 years as per the census and therefore a ready market is available.”

“Thirdly, sports enthusiasm and health consciousness is witnessing a rapid growth in recent past, which makes for a good potential market. Lastly, there is a good amount of market awareness, which removes the need to educate the customers from scratch,” she explains.

Sharing about the brand's current retail presence, she says, “Classic Polo brand is offered in 50 Exclusive Brand Outlets (EBOs), around 3000 leading Multi Brand Outlets (MBOs), some Large Format Stores (LFS) and an e-commerce portal.”

“Shoppers Stop, Central, Globus, Reliance Trends, TOTAL Malls, Megamart, Brand Factory and Coupon are some of the LFS where Classic Polo apparels are available. It is also offered on e-commerce portal myntra.com,” she adds.

Enlightening further, she says, “In fact, e-retailing is fastest growing business and we are now building our own e-retailing platform. We expect e-retailing to constitute a major share of our total business across all channels in near future.”
