Fila to launch Fall 2012 Heritage collection at US Open

The Heritage Collection is one of Fila’s most popular lines at retail, and while the collection’s colors traditionally have been navy and red, Fila has freshened up the color palette for fall with more vibrant and on-trend color combinations.

The transformation creates a more modern appeal while still retaining the signature Fila look. This new collection, comprised of peony pink and black for women will be worn by Fila-sponsored WTA Tour tennis athletes during their matches at this year’s US Open, serving as the quintessential capstone of the last Grand Slam of 2012.

“The Heritage Collection incorporates bold graphics, bright color palettes and functional yet fashionable silhouettes that echo our rich tennis heritage,” said Danny Lieberman, Vice President of Apparel for Fila USA.

“We look forward to seeing Fila tennis stars such as Vera Zvonareva and Jelena Jankovic compete in a Grand Slam that has such a vibrant history of its own.”

The Women’s Heritage Collection includes two tank tops and a cap sleeve top, as well as a dress, skort, warm-up jacket and pant. The Heritage Printed Racerback Tank, which will be worn by Vera Zvonareva this year, is inspired by Fila’s swim collection archives.

The design team translated the graphic pattern of a vintage swimsuit design to the tank in order to make a unique performance top. The tank comes in two variations of a peony, black, white, and platinum color scheme that is complemented by the Heritage Skort, which features stylish pleats and a thin horizontal contrast color stripe along the hip.

Jelena Jankovic will be sporting the Heritage Dress, which is also available in the line’s signature colors: peony/white, white/black, and black/white.

The performance dress includes contrast taping at the neck, arm and waist, as well as a flared bottom, which produces a flattering silhouette for all body types. The cap sleeve top is available in black/white, peony/white, and white/peony.

The top has color contrast binding at the scoop neck, and color taping down the center and sides that curve onto the back of the shirt.

The jacket and pant are also available in the signature color palette, and the pieces incorporate a stripe rib knit with inserts. The contrast piping allows the set to match well with the other pieces in the collection.

The color palette of Fila’s Women’s Heritage Collection can be easily mixed and matched with popular pieces from the brand’s Essenza Collection. This thoughtful coordination allows athletes to have endless options for on-court looks.

While Fila’s sponsored ATP World Tour athletes will wear styles from the Collezione group at the US Open, the Men’s Heritage Collection features two crew silhouettes, a polo, short, and a complementary jacket and pant. The tops in the group incorporate powerlite interlock fabric to reveal a jacquard print that runs diagonally from seam to seam.
