Bon-Ton Stores to close Carson's location in January 2013

The Bon-Ton acquired the leasehold interests in the River Oaks Mall store as part of the Northern Department Store Group acquisition in 2006. The Company does not expect costs associated with the closing of the location to be material. The store will close at the end of its lease term.

Brendan Hoffman, President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, “The Company continually reviews the performance of its assets; as a result of these reviews, we made the decision to close the River Oaks location. Our Calumet City customers are invited to shop with us at our remaining Carson’s stores in the area as we will continue to provide great service and an outstanding merchandise assortment. We are very grateful for the devoted River Oaks store associates and are committed to providing assistance to these associates.”

The affected associates in the River Oaks location will be offered the opportunity to interview for available positions at other Carson’s stores or receive career transition benefits, including severance, according to established practices and state employment service support.
