Speedo sponsored Christian Sprenger and Alicia Coutts have helped set the standard in swimming’s newest spectacle after the Australian Team broke the 4x50m Mixed Medley relay world record at the FINA World Cup in Singapore.

With the success, Christian Sprenger became the first swimmer to break a World Record wearing the brand new high-waisted version of the Speedo Fastskin LZR Racer Elite 2 Jammer, the latest addition to the comprehensive Speedo Fastskin Racing System collection.

He was joined by his fellow Speedo Australia ambassador Coutts, who wore the Speedo Fastskin LZR Racer Elite 2 Kneeskin in the team’s record breaking race.

Introduced for the first time in September by swimming’s world governing body, FINA, mixed relay events featuring two male and two female swimmers have caught the imagination of the swimming world, prompting fierce competition at meets.

With the existing 4x50m Mixed Medley record set last month by Team France, the  Speedo sponsored Australian Team initially set a new world record in the morning heats with a time of 1:39.54, before improving in the evening final to break their own fastest time in 1:38.02.

Their latest success was welcomed by Speedo vice president of product and marketing, Sean Hastings, who said: “Speedo congratulates Christian Sprenger and Alicia Coutts on breaking the 4x50m Mixed Medley world record, and we’re delighted to see them setting the standard in this exciting new event. This latest world record further underpins the Speedo Fastskin LZR Racer Elite 2 as the choice of swimming champions.”
