Contract logistics provider, DHL Supply Chain said Levi Strauss India (Pvt.) Ltd, moved into its new, multi-client site at Bengaluru, and is among the first customers to move in to the state-of-the-art DHL facility, which became operational in July 2014.

Spread across 136,000 square feet in South Bengaluru, DHL said this facility will meet the growing customer demands of various sectors from this region by driving value and providing a competitive advantage to them.

“Having worked closely with DHL Supply Chain over the past five years, we are pleased to see our operations move into their new multi-client centre,” Richard Kuether, VP Global Distribution, Levi Strauss said.

He added, “We see tremendous potential for expansion of our product range and it is essential to partner with a supply chain specialist who can offer us innovative solutions which help us with faster delivery and reliability.”

DHL’s new multi-client site offers significant synergies to customers from various industries, especially in the area of transportation, where consolidation and flexible space provisions address the seasonal requirements of various customers.

The new multi-client facility has been built as per international standards, with a clear height of 12 meters, 11 loading bays, modern energy saving devices and is equipped with security features to simplify end-to-end supply chain services.

Levis and DHL Supply Chain have a strong global relationship with 3PL services being provided to Levis in various countries beyond India. This ensures continuous benchmarking and infusion of global best practices enabling Levis to run an efficient supply chain with continuous innovation.

In 2012, DHL Supply Chain had announced an investment of € 100 million to strengthen logistics infrastructure in India. With a sound focused approach and a consistent strategy, the company has been steadily investing in facilities across the country.

Bengaluru is the fourth largest multi-client site to be inaugurated, with similar facilities having commenced operations at Mumbai, Pune and Gurgaon. Plans are on track for three more multi-client sites to be constructed at Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad, which will be operational in 2015.

DHL is part of Deutsche Post DHL, which generated revenues of more than €55 billion in 2013 and has a global network across more than 220 countries and territories and employs around 315,000 employees worldwide. (AR)
