Garment sector needs to be well organized & price competitive, says Matalan Chief

Chairman of the largest ready-made garment buyers in UK, Matalan Holdings PLC, and John Hargreaves stated that Bangladesh need to be well organized and price competitive to retain its position in the Global apparel market.
In addition, the country also requires paying attention to enhance quality of the garment products to increase the exports to the UK.
John made this explanation; while he was on visit to Bangladesh on a courtesy call from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) leaders at the BGMEA office.
BGMEA president Anisul Huq urged the Matalan Chairman to buy out more readymade garment from Bangladesh.
Matalan is importing ready-made garments from Bangladesh since 2000n operates 199 retail outlets in the UK. Last year, Matalan imported readymade garments worth $60 million from the country.
Anisul Huq informed that the BGMEA is on a way to enhance the production capacity and quality of ready-made garment factories.
