Christopher & Banks same-store sales up 8% in June

Women's apparel retailer Christopher & Banks Corporation (CBK) reported total sales for the four weeks ended June 25, 2005 rose 21% to $36.1 million from $29.8 million last year, while same-store sales increased 8%.
For the four months ended June 25, 2005, total sales increased 20% to $158.8 million from $132.4 million last year, while same-store sales increased 5%.
As of June 25, 2005 the Company operated 662 stores compared with 571 stores as of June 26, 2004.
Bill Prange, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "We are pleased with our 8% increase in June same-store sales. At the end of June, in-store inventories per square foot were approximately 8% below last year levels. As we move forward with cleaner inventory, we anticipate merchandise margins will begin to show improvement over the prior year in July."
