Christopher & Banks Corp announces Sept sales results

Minneapolis-based apparel store Christopher & Banks Corporation reported total sales for the four-week period ended September 24, 2005 rose 11 percent to $35.3 million from $31.7 million last year, while September same-store sales declined 1 percent. For the seven months ended September 24, 2005, total sales increased 17 percent to $268.8 million from $230.7 million in the prior year period, while same-store sales rose 3 percent.
As of September 24, 2005, the Company operated 679 stores compared to 594 stores at September 25, 2004.
Bill Prange, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "In September, although their same store sales were down slightly they continued to see improvement in their merchandise margins with levels above last year. Maintaining this momentum, they expect October merchandise margins will also trend above last year. Finally, they continued their tight inventory control and finished the month with clean and current inventory."
