In the midst of a five-year national expansion plan that has seen several recent store renovations, Harry Rosen Inc is thrilled to announce its latest addition to this plan - a doubling of its Calgary presence in 2010 with a major expansion and an additional location being added for a total of more than 42,500 square feet of retail space.

With an expansion to 30,500 square feet planned for its flagship location at TD Square, Harry Rosen will also add a second store in suburban Calgary at Chinook Centre, boasting 12,000 square feet of retail space.

"With the positive long-term prognosis of the economy in Alberta and Calgary in particular, we have had our eye on expansion here for many years," states Larry Rosen, CEO & Chairman of Harry Rosen Inc. "TD Square will become our second-largest store nationally, just after our recently-renovated 50,000 square foot flagship Toronto store on Bloor Street. The demand is so great for better-end men's clothing in Calgary that the addition of a second store is an absolute necessity for us to satisfy our clients."

The downtown Calgary store at TD Square originally opened in March 1984 with just over 7,000 square feet. With two renovations since then in 1993 and 1998, it doubled in size to its current 18,000 square feet. As such, the store has enjoyed significant annual sales increases over the years, with sales doubling in the past five years alone, making it one of the most important flagship locations in the company.

"We're very excited about this expansion and we're eager to offer our Calgary clients a flagship store of the highest stature," adds Michael Peters, Harry Rosen Inc. Regional Director for Alberta and Manitoba. "This store will be a shining jewel in our operation once the project is complete."

Many of the finest menswear labels in the world, currently carried at Harry Rosen, are slated to have official shop-in-shop boutiques in both Calgary locations, including BOSS Hugo Boss, Armani Collezioni, Dolce and Gabbana, Canali and Ermenegildo Zegna. The revamped TD Square store will feature pristine European design and materials and the latest thinking in retail design.

The addition of the suburban outpost at Chinook Centre will guarantee that sophisticated Calgarians will have the greatest access possible to these brands without having to leave their city.

This Calgary expansion will further boost the local economy – requiring approximately 40-50 new positions within the company, with approximately 25-30 staff required for Chinook and an additional 15-20 required for TD Square. A hiring campaign will be mounted in 2009 for top qualified retail professionals in Calgary.

Along with Calgary Eaton Centre, TD Square is one half of The Core - downtown Calgary's distinctly urban shopping venues. Managed by 20 Vic Management Inc, The Core is conveniently connected and located from 2nd Street to 4th Street (between 7th and 8th Avenues SW)and features more than 160 trend-setting stores and boutiques.

Originally opened as an outdoor mall in 1960, Chinook Centre continues to grow and set the standard today for Canadian retail. Managed by Cadillac Fairview, Chinook Centre recently completed a $300 million redevelopment and now features over 200 stores and services and many one-of-a-kind attractions unique to Calgary.

Harry Rosen Inc., Canada's premiere men's wear retailer, is celebrating 54 years in business in 2008.
