Brooks For Her apparel collection inspires both good run & great cause

Leading running company Brooks Sports Inc announced the launch of the “Brooks For Her” women's apparel collection, marking the company's most significant cause-related program to date. Furthering Brooks' tradition of philanthropy and sustainability, the company debuts the collection to raise money for charities that focus on breast cancer research, awareness, and support.

For each Brooks For Her piece purchased from March through December 2009, Brooks will earmark 6.25% of the suggested retail price for donation to three pre-selected charities: Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and The Young Survival Coalition. Consumers—whether they purchase a collection piece or not—will be able to vote during this time frame at www.brooksrunning.com/bfh to decide the exact percentage of the total each charity will receive.

“We've selected three diverse, national breast cancer charities with unique focuses as beneficiaries of the Brooks For Her donation program because we want to actively support those who are directly and indirectly affected by this insidious disease,” said Michelle Avé, Director of Global Apparel for Brooks Sports. “The Brooks For Her Collection gives women an opportunity to show their support by purchasing and wearing performance apparel that inspires both a good run and a great cause.”

The predominately pink Brooks For Her collection includes high-quality running gear for women for the spring and fall 2009 seasons. The collection includes a T, hat, jacket, tank, skort, short, and capri, all adorned with the iconic pink ribbon.

The online voting process is significant to the pre-selected charities because money raised during the campaign will be given to the three organizations in an amount relative to the percentage of votes each receives at www.brooksrunning.com/bfh. Consumers can select one of these charities:

• Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation (www.makingmemories.org) grants wishes and memory-making events for metastatic breast cancer patients while continuing to support, educate, and increase resource awareness.
