Bagir Ltd., the Israel-based tailored apparel manufacturer, renowned for high-tech garments, eco-innovations, and manufacturer of the first recycled men's suit made from post-consumer waste plastic bottles, is proud to announce its participation in the United Nations Global Compact. The Global Compact is the most comprehensive framework worldwide to progress ethical principles in business with corporate social and environmental responsibility as the key foundation. The initiative is the largest corporate citizenship in the world.
Bagir Group was accepted as a member of the Global Compact in March 2010, and has published its first Communication on Progress. The publication is a summary of the ways in which Bagir Group operates in support of the Global Compact principles in all aspects of its global business. Highlights include:
• A commitment by CEO, Ofer Gilboa, to strengthening Bagir Group's Sustainability Program and report publicly on progress on an annual basis.
• The development of reduced carbon footprint EcoGir tailored suit technology, which helps protect the environment by recycling, conserving energy and eliminating waste through use of post-consumer recycled plastics.
• Manufacturing in all locations in line with the Ethical Trading Initiative Base Code.
• Conversion of the Company's vehicle fleet in Israel to hybrid vehicles, saving 45% of fuel consumption per year.
• Clear commitment to Human Rights, Employee Development, and Community Empowerment.
