Indonesian woven apparel exports rise in 2015

The exports of woven apparel and clothing accessories (HS code 62) from the Southeast Asian nation of Indonesia increased marginally by 1.19 per cent year-on-year in 2015, the data from Statistics Indonesia showed.
Last year, Indonesia's exports of non-knit garments and apparel accessories stood at $3.978 billion, compared to export earnings of $3.931 billion in 2014.
Non-knitted apparel and clothing accessories accounted for 3.02 per cent of all non oil & gas exports made by Indonesia during the 12-month period, the data showed.
Textile and clothing industry makes a significant contribution to Indonesia's economy, in the form of providing employment as well as earning foreign exchange. (RKS)
