Vietnam's garment exports reach $16.24bn in Jan-Nov'13

The exports of garments and textiles from Vietnam reached US$ 16.241 billion during the first eleven months of the current year, according to the statistics released by the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance.

Of the total textiles and garment exports of US$ 16.241 billion made by Vietnam, fabrics accounted for only US$ 648.23 million.

From January to November 2013, Vietnam’s garments and textiles exports to the US stood at US$ 7.782 billion, followed by Japan with US$ 2.181 billion, and South Korea with US$ 1.509 billion.

Among the EU countries, Germany was the largest importer of Vietnamese clothing and textiles worth US$ 571.508 million, followed by Spain which accounted for US$ 478.264 million, the UK with US$ 430 million, and the Netherlands with US$ 226.735 million.

Canada and China imported Vietnamese apparel and textiles worth US$ 346.6 million and US$ 318.963 million, respectively.

During January-November 2013, Vietnam imported 549,699 tons of cotton valued at US$ 1.109 billion; 632,115 tons of yarn valued at US$ 1.383 billion, and fabric worth US$ 7.635 billion, the data showed.

Vietnam imported 93,070 tons of cotton valued at US$ 171.657 million; 23,988 tons of yarn valued at US$ 76.743 million, and fabric worth US$ 53.402 million from India, during the eleven-month period.

Similarly, it imported 215,982 tons of cotton worth US$ 452.483 million, and fabric worth US$ 20.821 million from the US.

From China, Vietnam imported 3,402 tons of cotton valued at US$ 8.144 million; 191,986 tons of yarn worth US$ 415.997 million; and fabric worth US$ 3.523 billion, during the period under review.

In 2012, Vietnam’s apparel and textile exports stood at US$ 17.2 billion, and analysts expect exports to increase to US$ 19 billion this year.
