Garment exports earned US$ 12.024 billion for Bangladesh in the July-December 2014 period, compared to earnings of $11.932 billion made during the corresponding period of the previous financial year, according to the data released by the Export Promotion Bureau.

Woven and knitted apparel and clothing accessories’ exports together accounted for around 80 per cent of $14.914 billion worth of total exports made by Bangladesh during the first half of the current financial year.

In fiscal year 2013-14, Bangladesh’s clothing exports surged by 13.83 per cent to $24.491 billion, compared to exports of $21.515 billion made in the previous fiscal.
