India's apparel exports grow 14.66% in April-Dec FY '15

Export of readymade garments from India increased by 14.66 per cent in US dollar terms during the first nine months of financial year 2014-15, Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) said on the basis of data from the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S), Kolkata, which functions under the ministry of commerce.
 
Apparel exports earned US$ 12.138 billion for India during April-December 2014-15, registering a growth of 14.66 per cent compared to exports of $10.585 billion during the corresponding period of previous financial year, the data showed.
 
In rupee terms, India’s garment exports stood at Rs 73,714 crore during the nine-month period, showing a growth of 15.98 per cent over exports of Rs 63,557 crore made during the comparable period of last year.
 
In financial year 2013-14, India’s clothing exports grew by 15.5 percent year-on-year to $14.94 billion. (RKS)
